SCOTT WALKING TOURS
Nova Scotia Walking Adventures

History and nature lovers can marry their passions on a remarkable walk that combines pristine sand beaches with the Nova Scotia of the 17th and 18th centuries. Scott Walking Adventures, Eastern Canada’s premier walking-adventure company, is offering these six-day escapes from July to September.

The adventures begin on the Atlantic Ocean, at the site of North America’s oldest operating lighthouse in Sambro, built in 1758. The journeys end on the other side of the province, at the site of the Acadian settlements immortalized in Longfellow’s poem Evangeline. In between, there are visits to the UNESCO World Heritage harbour town of Lunenburg, built in 1753; Port Royal, the second-oldest settlement in North America, founded in 1605; and another jewel in this heritage crown, Annapolis Royal.

This tapestry of history is interwoven with walks along some of the continent’s most scenic and gentle sand beaches, and a bold granite shoreline, through an ancient hemlock forest at Kejimkujik National Park, and a stroll through historic gardens. There will also be whale-watching on the Bay of Fundy. Evenings will be spent in the historic quarters of Annapolis Royal and Lunenburg and an intimate seaside resort.

Now celebrating its 15th year, Scott Walking Adventures is a Canadian pioneer in the field of responsible travel. The defining qualities of a Scott Walking Adventure are unmistakable. Begin with the remarkable landscapes, where the spirit soars and the soul regains its balance. Add a small number of travelling companions, to make for a gentle journey. Top it off with fine food, creature comforts, and local guides who bring their knowledge of nature, history and folklore to every walking path.
