This park is where the famous naturalist often walked in search of subjects for his paintings. There is a museum with original prints from some of his works. The 692-acre park offers a swimming beach, fishing, 9-hole golf course, riding carts, trails, pedal boats, and tennis. The park operates five 2-bedroom cottages sleeping 4, with fireplaces, stoves, refrigerators, coffeepots, tub/showers, AC and heat.

Located on Kentucky Lake, near Paducah, this park has indoor tennis, fishing boats, houseboats, ski boats, fishing, 9-hole golf course, hiking trails, cottage pool. There are 34 efficiency and 1, 2 and 3 bedroom cottages, fully furnished, each sleeping from 2-6. The 9 efficiency cottages each have a combination living room/bedroom, 1 double bed, kitchen and bath. The 16 one-bedroom cottages have double beds and 1 twin bed, living room, kitchen and bath. The 8 two-bedroom cottages have either 1 double bed and 2 twins, or 2 double beds and 2 twin beds, living room, kitchen and bath. All cottages have a studio couch in the living room, phone, TV, AC, heat, screened porch, utensils and linens. The Kenlake Hotel has 48 rooms, 44 with double beds, 4 with 1 queen-sized bed, all with phone, TV, AC and heat, and daily maid service.

Located on Kentucky Lake, near Paducah, this 1,251-acre park is open year around, offering boating, fishing, dining, 18-hole golf course, cottage pool, tennis and lighted airstrip. The park operates 67 secluded woodland cottages; choose from among six types: 1, 2, or 3-bedroom; 2 or 3-bedroom deluxe; and 3-bedroom executive cottages. All cottages have living rooms, kitchens, phones, TV, AC, heat, utensils and linens. The 10 one-bedroom cottages have 1 double bed and 1 hide-a-bed, with bath. The 24 two-bedroom cottages have 4 single beds and 1 hide-a-bed, bath. The 7 two-bedroom deluxe cottages have 1 double bed, 2 single beds, 1 hide-a-bed, 1-1/2 baths, dining area, garage. Located on the E side of Lake Barkley, near Hopkinsville, this park features trapshooting, beach, boating, dining, fishing, a fitness center with steam room, sauna, and other health equipment, an 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, and a lighted airstrip. There are 14 two-bedroom executive deluxe cottages, open year around, with 4 double beds and 1 hide-a-bed. There are also four 2-bedroom log cottages, with 3 double beds and 1 hide-a-bed. All cottages have kitchen, dining area, bath, phone, TV, AC, and heat, linen, utensils. The Lake Barkley Lodge has 124 rooms, 120 with 2 double beds, and 4 suites, each with 2 bedrooms, 2 double beds, 1 hide-a-bed, refrigerator, and wet bar. All rooms have bath, phone, TV, AC, heat and balcony, with daily maid service. The Little River Lodge has 11 rooms, 10 with 2 double beds and 1 hide-a-bed, and 1 suite with 1 bedroom, 2 double beds, phone, TV, AC, heat, balcony and daily maid service. Named for the tiny pennyrile plant, this 863-acre park is near Dawson Springs, KY, and offers rowboats, fishing, golf, hiking trails, and tennis courts. The park operates 12 efficiency, 1 bedroom, and 2-bedroom cottages. The 3 efficiency cottages each have 1 double bed, 1 hide-a-bed, combination living/bedroom, kitchen and bath. Three 1-bedroom cottages have either 2 singles and 1 hide-a-bed or 2 singles, 1 queen-sized bed and 1 hide-a-bed. The 7 two-bedroom cottages have 2 single beds, 1 double bed, and 1 hide-a-bed. The 1 and 2- bedroom cottages have living room, kitchen and bath. All cottages have phone, TV, AC, heat, utensils, linen. There are special late spring rates on the cabins. After a day of exploring Mammoth Cave National Park, enjoy the many aboveground delights found in nearby Barren River Lake State Park. The lodge and cottages curve around the lake, providing spectacular views of glimmering sunsets. The resort is 44 miles SE of Bowling Green. Take I-65 to the Cumberland Parkway, then US 31E south.
The 2,187-acre park has a 52-room lodge, open year around, and 22 cottages, also open year around. There is a dining room, gift shop, meeting rooms and marina with rental fishing boats, houseboat rentals and pontoons.

DALE HOLLOW LAKE State Resort Park

This is Kentucky’s newest state resort park,. The lodge is perched high overlooking the lake. There is outstanding fishing in the area, as well as boating, swimming and miles of hiking and riding trails. From Cave City, take KY 90 E, and then S on KY 449 and KY 1206.
The 3,398-acre park offers a 30-room lodge, open year around. There is a dining room with meeting facilities, gift shop.
Activities: pool, marina with 36 open slips, rental fishing boats and pontoons, fishing, hiking, horse trails, horse camping sites, mountain bike trails, planned recreational activities, picnic area, playground.
LAKE CUMBERLAND State Resort Park

This 3,117-acre park, located 49 miles SW of Somerset, at Jamestown, KY, offers bicycle rentals, fishing, nature center, cottage pool, and tennis courts. There are twenty 1- and 2-bedroom cottages and 10 secluded 2 bedroom Wildwood cottages. The Wildwood cottages are 2-story A-frames with 1-1/2 baths and fireplaces, renting for $86 a night and sleeping 4. All cottages have combination living/bedroom, kitchen, bath, porch, phone, TV, AC and heat, linen, utensils. The Pumpkin Creek Lodge has 13 rooms, 3 with queen-sized bed, 1 with 2 twin beds, 6 with 2 double beds and 3 suites with 1 double bed, a hide-a-bed, and a wet bar. All have bath, phone, TV, AC, heat, daily maid service. The Lure Lodge, overlooking the lake, has 48 rooms, all with 2 double beds, bath, phone, TV, AC, heat, and daily maid service.

Rough River Dam is surrounded by beautiful, rolling countryside overlooking a 5,100-acre lake. Some of the finest fishing in the state is found in the deep waters of Rough River. Non-anglers can enjoy the lake on a pontoon, or water ski or jet ski. For aviators, the park offers a lighted airstrip within walking distance to the lodge. Take the Western Kentucky Parkway to KY 79 N at Caneyville.
The 637-acre park offers a 40-room lodge and 15 cottages, both open year around. There is also a dining room, gift shop, meeting facilities,.

THE WILDERNESS TRAIL REGION
BLUE LICKS BATTLEFIELD State Resort Park

Throughout history, the salt springs at Blue Licks have attracted pre-historic animals, Indians, pioneers, and 19th century Southerners who came for the soothing waters. But in 1782, Blue Licks gained greater fame as the site of the last Revolutionary War battle in Kentucky. The park is NE of Lexington, on US 68.
There are 150-acres in the park, and rental cottages open year around. There is a meeting facility, gift shop, museum, hiking trails, miniature golf, pool, planned recreational activities, and picnic shelters.
BUCKHORN LAKE State Resort Park

This South Central park is located on Buckhorn Lake, near London, KY. The park offers seasonal bicycle rentals, boating from April—Oct., fishing, game room, miniature golf, 2 self-guided nature trails, and swimming at the lodge. The 1 three-bedroom cottage overlooks the lake, with phone, TV, heat, utensils and linen. The Buckhorn Lodge has 36 rooms, 34 with 2 double beds, 2 with 1 double bed and 1 hide-a-bed, bath, phone, TV, AC, heat, private balcony, and daily maid service.
CUMBERLAND FALLS State Resort Park

The 1,794-acre park is named after the falls, and is located 15 miles SW of Corbin, KY. Look for the mist-created moonbeam, seen nowhere else in the Western hemisphere. The falls are the second largest E of the Rocky Mountains. Hiking trails, river rafting, swimming pool, tennis, and other equipment rentals are available. The park operates 25 efficiency and 1 and 2 bedroom cottages. All the efficiency cottages have 1 double bed, living/bedroom, kitchen and bath. The seven 1-bedroom cottages have 1 double bed, 1 hide-a-bed, and the seven 2-bedroom cottages have 1 double bed in each bedroom and 1 hide-a-bed. All have phone, TV, AC, and heat, and most have fireplaces. The Woodland Rooms is a special accommodation adjacent to DuPont Lodge. The Woodland Rooms offer the privacy of the cottages, with daily maid service. The 10 buildings have 2 rooms in each, with either 1 queen-sized or 2 double beds, connecting doors, private drive, wet bar and refrigerator, but no cooking facilities. All have bath, phone, TV, AC, heat. The DuPont Lodge has 53 rooms, all with bath, phone, TV, AC, heat, and daily maid service.

This 800-acre park, located 44 miles NE of Louisville, is named after a hero of the Battle of New Orleans. There are 20 acres of ski trails, and advanced snowmaking systems, as well as a beach, 9-hole golf course, rowboats, tennis courts, and other amenities. There are 23 cottages, open year around, with a choice of efficiency, 1 or 2 bedroom, and 2 or 3-bedroom executive cottages. All cottages have phone, TV, AC, heat, utensils and linens. The 5 efficiency cottages have 1 double bed with 1 hide-a-bed, combination living/bedroom, kitchen and bath. Two 1-bedroom cottages have 1 double bed and 1 hide-a-bed. NATURAL BRIDGE State Resort Park

It has taken millions of years to form the natural sandstone arch from which this park takes its name. Located deep in the Daniel Boone National Forest, near the Red River Gorge Geological Area, the bridge spans 78 feet long, and 65 feet high. At Natural Bridge, each season has its own charm. Hikers are drawn to this rugged, scenic area of high stone cliffs and stone arches, but tenderfoots can also enjoy the scenic wonders from the park’s sky lift. The resort is 52 miles SE of Lexington, off the Mountain Parkway on KY 11.
The 1,900-acre park features a 35-room lodge and 10 cottages, open year around. There is a dining room, gift shop, and convention center.
Activities: There are 18 miles of hiking trails, nature center, fishing, pedal boats, sky lift, planned recreational activities, picnic shelters.
PINE MOUNTAIN State Resort Park

Located at Pineville, KY, 15 miles from Middleboro, KY, this 1,519-acre park offers a 9-hole golf course, hiking trails, and a swimming pool. The park overlooks the valleys of the Kentucky Ridge State Forest, and nearby is Cumberland Gap National Historic Park. This is Daniel Boone country. The park features 20 cottages, some rustic and some with 2 bedrooms, open year around. The 10 1-bedroom cottages have fireplaces, and rent for $68 a night, sleeping 5. The 10 two-bedroom cottages have no fireplaces, and rent for $78 a night, sleeping 10. There is a fee of $5 for each adult over 2 for the single bedroom, and over 4 adults in the double bedrooms. All cottages have kitchens and bathrooms with tub/showers.

This park is located 38 miles W of Ashland, at Olive Hill, KY. There are more than 20 caverns in the park, and many of the passages of the caverns have not been charted. There are daily naturalist tours through the caves. The park also offers boating, swimming, fishing, 9-hole golf course, cottage pool, and tennis courts and sports rental equipment. There are 8 efficiency cottages with 1 double bed, 1 hide-a -bed, kitchen and bath; two l-bedroom cottages with 1 double bed and 1 hide-a-bed; and five 2-bedroom cottages with 4 double beds and 1 hide-a-bed. All 1 and 2 bedroom cottages have living room, kitchen and bath. All cottages have phones, TV, AC, heat, porch, linen and utensils. There are 5 two-bedroom cottages, and 8-efficiency cottages.. The two 1-bedroom cottages rent for $68 a night, sleeping 2. The Caveland Lodge has 28 rooms, 25 with 2 double beds and 3 rooms with 1 queen-sized bed. This park is located in NE Kentucky, along the Greenbo Lake, and is open year around. The park has basketball, bicycle rentals, hiking, and fishing. There is boating from April 1—Oct. 31, with a full marina offering 65 open slips and boat rentals. During the summer there are planned recreational activities. The park offers no cottages, only the Jesse Stuart Lodge, with 36 rooms; 33 have 2 double beds and 3 rooms have 1 double bed and 1 hide-a-bed. All bedrooms have phones, TV, AC, heat, patios, and daily maid service.

The seven 1-bedroom cottages have 1 double bed, 1 single bed, and 1 hide-a-bed. The ten 2-bedroom cottages have 4 double beds and 1 hide-a-bed.
