Many of the parks are still under development, and are in the process of adding new cabins. Overnight reservations may be made for cabins, lodges, group camps, rally campgrounds, campsites and conference rooms (where available).\

Entrance Fees: $2 per vehicle for up to 4 adults, 50 cents each additional person. Many of the swimming pools charge $2 per person for entrance. Fishing Piers charge $2 in most areas for use.

Reservations for overnight use between Oct. 1-March 31 are accepted beginning July 1 or the first working day after July 1. Reservations for use between April 1-Sept. 30 are accepted beginning Jan 2. For the first three days of the reservation period, reservations are accepted by telephone only and are on a first come, first served basis. Reservations for this period are accepted after the three day phone in period annually by either phoning or writing the individual park. Reservations can be held with Visa or MasterCard during phone-in period. An advance deposit is required, and must be received within ten days of the date of the request or it is cancelled. Full refund on cancellations is notice is at least 14 days prior to arrival.

Cabin and lodges have a minimum reservation for a weekend from 4 pm Friday to 4 pm Sunday. Holidays require a 3-day minimum stay.

When one party reserves more than 50% of the available accommodations at any one park, reserve more than 6 months in advance.

Cabin Codes: d = double bed, b = bunk bed, s = single bed, dss = double/queen sofa sleeper Cookware, cooking utensils, dinnerware, silverware, linen are all provided in all cabins.


BAYOU SEGNETTE STATE PARK

Located just 30 minutes across the Mississippi River from New Orleans, in Westwego, off the Westbank expressway (U.S. 90) at the intersection with Drake Avenue in Jefferson Parish. . Access to the park is via Huey P. Long Bridge from the W. or the Greater New Orleans Bridge and the I-10 Expressway from the E.

This is where swamp land meets marsh and where quiet birding and nature enthusiasts observe unique wildlife. The park features a boat launch into the bayou, and offers boating, camping, fishing, group camps, showers, swimming, hiking trails and water-skiing. There is saltwater and freshwater fishing at the park. Fish for bass, catfish, bream, redfish and speckled trout.

There are 20 fully-equipped waterfront cabins in the park, with kitchen, refrigerator, stove, showers, and utensils and linen provided. The cabins have screened-in porches. And fishing piers. The cabins are open year around.

CHEMIN-A-HAUT STATE PARK

This park is located E. of LA Hwy. 139, 10 miles N of Bastrop. The 503-acre park is at the confluence of Bayous Chemin-A-Haut and Bartholomew, once used by Indians in their migrations to the S. The park is on a bluff and its name means ‘High Road" in French. The park is along the Louisiana-Arkansas state line, in a mixed hardwood and pine forest. T

The freshwater lake is stocked with fish, and there is a Olympic sized swimming pool with bathhouse, hiking trails, and 6 cabins in the park, all modern, fully equipped with kitchen, stove, refrigerator, heat, showers. The picnic area offers grills and three pavilions and a conference center is nearby.

A hard surfaced trail is designed for strollers, wheelchairs and bikers along the picnic area and along the bluff. A second trail winds through the woods. Big Slough Lake at the edge of the park is the best for fishing, not the river.

CHICOT STATE PARK

The park is located in N. Evangeline Parish, 6 miles N. of Ville Platte on LA Hwy. 3042. The 6,500-acre park features rolling hills, which surround a 2,000-acre artificial lake stocked with freshwater fish, especially bream, bass, crappie. This is Louisiana’s largest and most popular park. Mature hardwood uplands and beech-magnolia forests complement the lake forest of cypress-tupelo trees. The lake is managed as a trophy bass lake for the Louisiana Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries, and Lake Chicot has yielded world class catches of largemouth, bass crappie, bluegill and red-ear sunfish. Use the convenient boathouse, three launching ramps and boat rental facilities, and two 400 foot long fishing piers to fish from.

There are hiking trails, an amphitheater, picnicking, swimming in an Olympic-sized pool, bicycling and birding in the park.

Chicot’s facilities are divided into three areas that include 200 improved campsites, backpacking camps, primitive group campsites and 27 vacation cabins, 3 lodges. The Louisiana State Arboretum is located on the main entrance to the park. The cabins are fully-equipped with kitchen, refrigerator, stove, running water, heat, showers.

LAKE BISTINEAU STATE PARK

The park is located E. of LA Hwy. 163 in Webster Parish, near Doyline. The park is on the Western shore of a 200-year-old lake, and boasts magnificent surrounds and great facilities. An upland mixed hardwood forest, open waters of the lake and enchanting stands of cypress and tupelo trees create the natural beauty of the area.

Th park offers two boat launches, hiking trails, playgrounds, two swimming pools, a lakefront beach, picnicking, pavilions, restrooms, a baseball field, 67 improved campsites, 13 cabins, a lodge, two group camps with pools and excellent fishing, and water-skiing

The park is a favorite for families, and groups. For hiking, biking or relaxing, Lake Bistineau is in the middle of a pine forest. The cabins are modernized with kitchens, showers, stoves, refrigerators, and heat, with utensils and linens provided.

LAKE FAUSSE POINTE STATE PARK

The park is located 22 miles S. of Henderson on the W. Atchafalaya Basin protection levee road in St. Martin and Iberia Parishes. The park lies along one of the most wondrous natural areas in the North America. A network of waterways and islands introduces you to this 6,127-acre oasis. Situated in the heart of a thriving French culture, the park was once a part of the basin, and the surrounding area was home to the Chitimacha Indians. The park promotes the understanding of the Atchafalaya Basin and ecology. It is popular with canoeists and anglers, cyclists along the levee roads.

There are trails, boating, fishing, a museum, and 8 fully-equipped Acadian-style waterfront cabins with fishing piers, country store (open seasonally), and boat dock for rentals. The cabins feature kitchens, stoves, refrigerators, heat, linen and utensils.

NORTH TOLEDO BEND STATE PARK

This park is located 4 miles SW of Zwolle and one mile South of LA Hwy. 1215 in Sabine Parish. Access to Zwolle is via US 171 through Mansfield from the North and through Many from the South. The park is on the eastern shore of one of the country’s largest made reservoirs, on a peninsula extending into the reservoir, at the mouth of Bayou San Miguel. The park offers a mixed hardwood and pine forest with rolling uplands, ravines, valleys. A hiking trail winds through the forest. A spacious visitor center is on site with conference rooms, Olympic-sized swimming pool, bathhouse, and laundry. A bicycle trail was recently completed.

The park has boating, fishing, trails, showers, and swimming. A boat launch area with ramp and parking provides access to the reservoir. A fish cleaning station makes the fishing excursions easy.

There are 10 modern log cabins, each fully furnished with kitchen, shower, heat, utensils and linen. . The group camp offers dormitories with showers/bathhouse, kitchen/dining hall.

SAM HOUSTON JONES STATE PARK

This exceptional park offers 1,087 acres of lakes, trees, visas, rivers, and streams at the confluence of the Houston and Calcasieu Rivers and Indian Bayou. The park is located 12 miles North of Lake Charles on LA Hwy. 378 in Calcasieu Parish. This 1,068-acre park, named after a famous hero of the Alamo.

Popular activities include fishing in the tree-filled stocked lagoons or the west for of the Calcasieu River by boat, or from the riverbank. Navigate the waterways by canoe, or the picturesque park roads by bicycle. You may want to explore the park by taking a hike along the Old Stagecoach Road of the El Camino Real. The park is located along the Central Migratory Flyway, and just north of the most productive birding region in Louisiana. Bird watching is excellent in the spring and fall, with over 200 species flying in within 30 miles of the park.

Other activities include picnic areas, nature trails, water-skiing, boat rentals, and 12 vacation cabins, each fully furnished with stove, refrigerator, kitchen, heat, linen and utensils. There is a nature interpretation program in the summer.
