CONCHAS LAKE STATE PARK

This park is located W. of Tucumcari, providing recreational activities year around. Some of the best fishing and bird watching in the state is at this park. There is a lighted airstrip, a lodge, a marina, a 9 hole golf course, and concessionaire operated rental cabins with a community bathhouse. The concessionaire also rents trailers to the general public. Contact the concessionaire at 505-868-2450, Box 1048, North Dock Marina, Conchas Dam, NM 88416. The cabins are not being rented, but are being rebuilt at this time. The concessionaire does rent 6 fully furnished modern mobile homes, sleeping from 2-8 persons. Each has a kitchen, showers, linens, utensils, heat, and electricity. The mobile homes rent from $35 to $60 a night. A duplex cabin sleeping 4-6 persons, with the same amenities as the mobile homes, rents for $45-$65 a night.


ELEPHANTBUTTE LAKE STATE PARK

The park is located near Truth or Consequences, NM, along the 36,000-acre Elephant Butte Reservoir. This is the largest and most popular NM state park. The park, which gets its name from a nearby group of rocks, offers swimming, camping, hiking, a marina, restaurant and rental cabins located on the S. end of the lake near the restaurant. Visit the cultural and natural interpretive center nearby. There are 16 concessionaire cabins, all with showers, some with kitchenettes. Linen is provided, but no utensils. Rates are from $32-$52 a night. The cabins are open year around, and can be reached at Dam Site Recreation Area, 505-894-2073.
