The cottages were built by Albert L. Kenyon from 1911-1939, other cottages were added by his children up to 1959. The cottages were known as Kenyon Farms. Access is by gravel road shared by the adjacent property, Indian Rock Farm that was built by Charles Kenyon. The 230-acre cottage area is on the east side of Salt Pond facing west. The view is across the water from Ram Island, an undeveloped bird sanctuary. There is lots of wildlife and birds in the area.
Salt Pond extends 5-6 miles inland to the village of Wakefield and access is by Galilee and Jerusalem, about 3 miles by boat from the cottages. Recreational boaters use the Salt Pond during certain seasons.
The cottages are located in a section of Narragansett known as Point Judith on the West side of Narragansett Bay where the Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean, across from Newport, Rhode Island. Galilee is also on Point Judith and is an active commercial fishing and tourist recreation town with a nice beach for the kids. The Block Island Ferry runs from the State Pier in Galilee; charter fishing boats go out of Galilee. Other nice beaches are on Narragansett Bay and the Atlantic.
